The Aña Cuá Project registers a global progress in the order of 35% of execution - BNamericas

This involves civil works within the construction site, as well as electromechanical components manufactured even in other countries.

The largest hydroelectric project in recent decades, promoted by the National Government and the Argentine Government - once completed - will mean an increase in the order of 10% of the generation of Yacyretá at the service of both nations.

Civil works work is carried out on different fronts, according to the schedule established for the project, meaning a large movement of workers and heavy machinery.

Among them, the continuation of the concreting tasks in the powerhouse stands out, specifically in the assembly hall and the future unit 1 (UA 1), of the three planned (UA2 and UA3M) according to the design.

At the same time, the fixed components of the first generating unit (UA 1) have been installed, consisting of the so-called “noses” of the suction tube.

These electromechanical components are embedded in the concrete base and form part of the civil works structure.

Other fixed parts will be installed later, such as the suction tube.

"These tasks will be carried out as the concreting progresses to the level or to the height where these components have to be installed," said Mr. Carlos Yorg, MD manager of the Aña Cuá Machining Project.

The different work fronts in terms of civil works are carried out in double shifts (day/night), currently employing around 1,000 workers in the area.

The civil works are executed by the ART Consortium, made up of the companies: Astaldi (Italy), Rovella (Argentina) and Tecnoedil (Paraguay), with a work schedule of 50 months.

Mr. Carlos Yorg also highlighted the development of other very important works such as the incorporation of the plastic screen along both dams (MI and MD) and the installation of the grounding network that is part of the security system. and protection of the powerhouse of the future hydroelectric plant.

A convoy with the components of the Gantry Cranes of the future powerhouse entered the site area of the machining work last weekend.

On the one hand, the main components and accessories of the Power House Crane Bridge were received, of fundamental importance for the assembly of the turbines and generators, with a lifting capacity of 510 tons.

Likewise, the components and accessories of the Gantry Crane, with a lifting capacity of 20 tons, were received.

The crane, once installed, will be used to move the suction tube cofferdams.

The set of components and accessories of the Powerhouse Gantry Crane weighs 267 tons, while the Gantry Crane weighs a total of 35 tons.

Both pieces of equipment were manufactured in India by Unique Industrial Handlers Ltd, a company subcontracted by VOITH HYDRO LTD, awarded the supply, assembly and commissioning of the turbogenerators and part of the electromechanical equipment necessary for the machining of the Aña Cuá arm.
